Finding Out Housing Opportunity For People Living

In this written work I will try to find out housing opportunity for people living in Camden. I will also look at the available policy and resources. While I was doing my community profile research for this particular borough and was looking for any information in connection with drug misuse I find no information or very limited information for statistic about homeless people and people living in poverty in general. This really interested me to go deeply and to find out how this borough is tackling problem with housing and which groups in the society are most affected. Camden is ranked the 15th most deprived borough in London out of 33 Local authorities and 74th most deprived borough in England out of 326 local authorities (London Poverty†¦show more content†¦A private sector rent is high and means it can be hard for residents to secure suitable accommodation. Lower income households may be at greater risk of debt, arrears and potentially homelessness and also more likely to end up in insecure, overcrowded or sub-standard accommodation. There is a correlation between housing tenure and health, with those in social housing experiencing poorer health, as well as faring less well with other determinants of health and wellbeing, such as income and employment. People in Camden can buy or rent properties depend on their social status. Camden council has local policy to tackle housing problem. A future for housing in Camden which presents Camden’s housing strategy 2011-2016.It offers housing advice and options to people in their way of finding home to live. People have opportunity to rent social houses, private property or going into hostels if there isn’t any other solution. However private properties are better and they offer good quality but are much more expensive and only certain people can afford to live in, although the population of Camden is mostly young in working age. The majority of people chose to live in council property which is a cheaper alternative but doesn’t give them the best or dreamed home. Contrast and comparison Cousin Kate written by Christina Rossetti and The seduction by Eileen McAuley Essay I am going to compare and contrast two poems , Cousin Kate written by Christina Rossetti and The seduction by Eileen McAuley. I will pick out important bits from each poem and use them to compare and contrast the poems. The first poem Cousin Kate is all about a rejected woman. In the first four verses she wails her personal pain, about her experiences. She has been cast out and now looks back on her past life experiences with remorse. She has been betrayed by someone the one person she trusted the most. She feels dejected and , looking back on her life, she can see how foolish she was , now there is only pain and anguish. In the next two verses she recounts how her cousin Kate attracted her lords attention. Kate was swept into his home as she was years ago. He tempts Kate same way as she was when she was younger and he took interest in her. In the last two verses, She returns to her own feelings, she talks about what she would have done had she been cousin Kates position then ends the poem talking about her one victory, her pride and her shame. The poem The Seduction is also about a rejected women, this is one of the similarities. The Seduction starts off the morning after a party, a man and a woman are walking with each other, the woman is obviously drunk but the man sobriety is questionable, throughout the poem he seems quite sober. Anyhow, the first two verses are set currently, not exactly in real-time, but like a report it recounts the information. The next verse is a proper recount of the past, the night before. For the next five verses , the poem goes on about what happened that day. Over the next page the scene switches to 3 months later ,the woman is pregnant. For the rest of the poem, the feelings of the woman are described onto the paper. Her pain, her anguish, everything she is going through. First I will compare and contrast the content, the poems Cousin Kate and The Seduction are both, to simplify it down to one word about regret. In Cousin Kate the now husbandless woman has a bastard son and many regrets. She wishes she had not done such a stupid thing. In the Seduction, the woman also has a child with no father and looking back on her life has regrets. Each story is set in a different era yet have their distinct similarities, both women are outcasts from society with their bastards, the women in Cousin Kate has a son, whilst the women in The Seduction has one on her way, unless she decides to cancel the birth. The structure of The Seduction is as four lines per verse. It is as an ABCB style rhythm , an example of this is for the first verse, here are the endings for each line, morning, docks, city, blocks. Cousin Kate on the other hand is in a more complicated rhythm, it moves in the order ABCBDBEB, here are the endings for the first verse, maiden, air, mates, fair, out, hair, out, care. As you can see, in both poems there is rhyme, whilst each verse in The Seduction is in 4 short lines, Cousin Kate stretches out into double that with 8 lines per verse. In total The Seduction is much longer than Cousin Kate in terms of lines. It has many more than Cousin Kate. The characters in the poems are different though, in Cousin Kate there are three main character, the woman who is recounting her story, the lord and cousin Kate. In simplistic terms , you could call the lord a devourer of souls. He moves from place to place and chooses a woman every so often to fulfil his needs. We hear no more information about him or another women. A distinct similarity between the two would be that both the remorseful women were each fed a kind of drug from their partner who supposedly loved them. In the Seduction it was obviously the alcohol, she woman got too drunk to distinguish anything properly. She giggled, drunk and nervous, and he muttered little slag. In Cousin Kate, it is less obvious and is over a long period of time, the drug administered to her by the lord is money, greed sprouts forth and the other thoughts are clouded or blanked out. He lured me to his palace home-Woes me for joy thereof-To lead a shameless shameful life, As well as there are similarities , there are also differences, in The Seduction , nothing is known about the father, he does not know that he is the father of a child and the woman will most likely never hear from him ever again. It could be counted as a one-night-stand gone wrong. In Cousin Kate, the woman knows the father, the father knows she has a child but he cannot claim it. Cousin Kate has so far not given birth and is not pregnant with any children Yet Ive a gift you have not got , And seem not like to get:. So at the end of the poem there is a hint of vengeance because she knows she has the only male heir to the lords land and cousin Kate who is now with the Lord has so far not bore any children and shows no sign of it. You father would give lands for one to wear his coronet. This is counted as a similarity and also as a difference, there is a strong theme of broken promises in both poems but they are distinctly different. In the Seduction , the woman believed that everything she read in her magazines would come true to her once she found her supposed true love. However not everything turned out it should have, and in a fit of rage tore up her magazines to little pieces which told her lies which did not come true. She grew up believing that everything would be fine and her life would be fantastic once she found her true love. But everything is not always as it should be. The man she met, gave her a night of fun and supposed true love then left her . But not without leaving his mark on her. She did not realise something like this could ever happen to her and lets her anger out on the magazines which never mentioned anything about what happens if it goes wrong, what about the bad things, they mentioned what could happen and now she is paying the price. Now, with a softly rounded belly, she was sickened every morning , by stupid stupid promises , only tacitly made. Finally for similarities, both have children of a mistake in their life , for Cousin Kate, moving in with the Lord and being cast out for better woman later on, and for The Seduction, that one night where everything was going great until later she realised just what a big mistake it was. In both poems the men treat their women like playthings , was this because of the time? Or is it in mens nature? I believe that now, men are much more cautious when with women, after the womans rights acts passing and constant additions other acts, there is now a much lower chance of younger pregnancies. In both stories however, the women are both afraid of what society thinks of them, they are conscious of others feelings about them and wish it could all go away. Cousin Kate was written by Christina Rossetti to show the weaknesses in the Victorian society. Next in the organization chart is the shift manager who is in charge of their shift when dealing with staff who need shift changes, holidays, also ensuring targets set by Marks Spencer are met that all work hours spread sheets are checked confirmed. Each shift has its own warehouse. The warehouse manager is to manage the day to day operations of the warehouse, also manage the team leaders, and ensure the distraction achievement of the companys obligation to its customers, contractual and other. They are to ensure a successful operation, probability, productivity, quality people management. The warehouse Manager then reports to the operations manager who also works along side the finance manager as planning manager. The operations manager ensures confirms that all operations are on going, executing against customer requirements, operational performance. He reports to the general manager who works alongside DEL Marks Spencer about the functioning of the warehouse to maximize the weekly, monthly and annual reference of the site. Our warehouse also works with an HER department which starts off with our HER manager, who would be in charge of the HER department also deal with disciplinary hearings. HER then breaks down into a training department also stays with HER into an HER officer. The HER officer deals with holidays from operatives, also problems with peoples pay packages are responsible for the recruitment selection. The training officer is in charge for setting up the training programs, whether it is new health safety or new operations that come into place. Training assistants are brought in from the shop lord to pass on their experience to new employees to employees who need further training. An HER administrator is responsible to the HER officer is responsible for all administrative duties within the HER department. They are to ensure a safe, secure, clean fair work environment for team members. This involves working along with the health safety officer, ensuring that the department is complying with health safety standards. They are also to deliver team member performance reviews, this is informing staff about their work rate what level it is sitting at They must also facilitate effective communication ensuring that all staff are given clear instructions on what is required of them. An Any other business section is also given which sets reminders for staff about any wrong doings that can lead to disciplinary action, also of new Job opportunities, having no mobile phones inside warehouse. Other ways of communication around the warehouse would be the use of notice boards such as union news. The board would display when the next meeting would be how past meetings went. The H. R notice board tells people of sickness news available weeks to book off for holidays. Recently our warehouse has started its own newsletter. The newsletter gives staff information on how Marks Spencer stores are doing, how figures our standing in the warehouse, movements that are happening in the warehouse, also Job opportunities that are available. When it comes to my organization communicating with colleagues outside the warehouse such as Marks Spencer DEL, most of this is done by email telephone. Around every three months Marks Spencer DEL representatives from Ireland headquarters visit the warehouse to see how performance is going, it gives management an opportunity to communicate face to face for a better understanding. At times in my organization all staff arent given the information in full which can cause confusion among workers, this would be workers that work on core day hours arent involved in a team brief. Also Information is also given that is irrelevant to staff for their duties egg information from other departments. Other barriers with my organization would be when Marks Spencer demand stock each day while DEL prefer to send out full lorries as it is more efficient. With my our organization having such a large complex it can sometimes be difficult getting in touch with a member of staff. Ways we can overcome my organization not giving out staff information is give them a quick brief when they start despite their start time, When giving staff information they are given the information they need require for there working ay. With Marks Spencer becoming a fuel efficient company with DEL they have made a number of the small stores reduce their orders from day to day to two times a week, which means DEL can send out lorries with more loads saving on CO emissions due to less traveling involved. Our complex was a Tanana audio system installed over the speaker system meaning a member of of staff can be called out to meet in a certain destination to communicate face to face. Car Safety Features Essay

As cars and other motor vehicles get faster, they become more and more dangerous to use. While this is the case, there are many different methods that manufacturers have used to help prevent harm to their consumers. These methods include: air bags, seatbelts, antilock breaking systems and many more. These three features are by far the most commonly known safety features for cars, and pretty much any new car that is manufactured will have all three of these safety features, not only because of the interest in keeping drivers safe but also the recently huge appeal to safety features and ratings for cars. Seat Belts Seat belts are by far the most common safety feature among cars. Everyone knows what they are, been taught to always buckle up, they reduce the risk of death by around 50%, and is illegal to not be wearing one while travelling in a car. But exactly do seatbelts do? Seat belts protect drivers and passengers by strapping them into their seat. This prevents violent jerks caused by either collisions or sudden stops. The basic idea of seatbelts is that they stop you from flying out of the windshield of your car. Why would this happen? It happens because of something called inertia. Inertia matter’s tendency to keep moving if it’s moving or keep staying still if it’s staying still, until it becomes under the influence of a force. Kind of like if you wake up in the morning felling tired, you want to go back to sleep until you force yourself to wake up. This is how inertia works. If you were traveling in a car at 60 kilometres per hour, inertia would mean that the car, and everything inside it, would want to keep moving at 60 kilometres per hour. If the car decelerates very quickly, perhaps due to a crash, everything inside the car will still be moving at 60 kilometres per hour, but the car will be slowing down very quickly. If you were not wearing a seatbelt, you would travel forwards at 60 kilometres per hour and crash through your windshield. Since windshields are made of thick glass, crashing into it would very easily kill you at a speed like this. If you were wearing a seatbelt in a situation like this, the seatbelt acts as a force to stop you from moving forwards, greatly reducing the impact of the inertia. The most commonly known kind of seatbelt is known as the three-point seatbelt, which can be seen on the right. The three-point seatbelt is almost always used in cars and buses. The three-point seatbelt works by having a strip of fabric not only across your hip, but also across your whole torso. The seatbelt has three points, two of them being built into the car, and the third point being where the seatbelt locks in, hence the name three-point seatbelt. Air Bags Another very common form of passenger protection is the air bag. Air bags are basically just what they’re called. They are bags and get filled with air during a crash, preventing the driver/passenger from hitting their head onto the dashboard. Much like seat belts, they strive to decrease the impact of inertia to prevent injury, by stopping the passenger’s head from moving forward. Air bags have three components that work in unison to function correctly: the crash sensor, the inflator, and the air bag itself. The crash sensor is a device that detects the force that is equal to or greater than driving into a brick wall at 16 to 24 kilometres per hour. If this force is met, the crash sensor sends a command to the inflator. The inflator then creates a reaction between sodium azide (NaN3) and potassium nitrate (KNO3) to create nitrogen gas (NO3). The inflator forces this gas into the airbag, cause the bag to inflate. The bag is made of a thin nylon fabric, which is folded into a compartment in both the steering wheel and the the dashboard, and most of the time the seat or door. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Many accidents are cause by brakes being applies too much, locking up the wheels and cause the car to skid. ABS tries to prevent the wheel from locking up and making the car lose control. There are 4 components to ABS systems: speed sensors, the pump, valves and the controller. The speed sensors provide information to the controller of what speed the car is travelling at, they are usually located at the wheels. There is a valve in each of the brakes controlled by the ABS. There are three different positions that the valves can be in: the valve being open, blocking the break line and releasing pressure form the brakes. Since valves release the pressure from the brakes, there needs to be something that puts the pressure back in. That’s there the pump come in. When a valve reduces the pressure in the brakes, the pumps are there to put the pressure back in the brake system. And finally, there is the controller. The controller is a computer placed somewhere in the car. The controller just controls how the speed sensors, the pumps and the valve operate. ABS works by detecting hen brakes are applied to hard, and begins to turn the brakes on and off by taking away and re-applying the pressure on them. This stops the wheels on the cars from locking up, and most of the time stops the car from skidding.
